Alternative harbor tour
Before photographs travel around the world as memories that have become images, various raw materials have to be brought together for their production. The port of Hamburg is a transhipment point for this. In a barge, the environmental activist/chemist Klaus Baumgardt and the Chilean artist Ignacio Acosta take us to the places in the port where, among other things, copper, coal and oil are processed. They show us the widely ramified (neo-)colonial trade routes of photography and the traces they leave in our environment.
