Under Pinochet’s dictatorship, a mining law was enacted to separate land ownership from the mineral resources beneath the surface, granting concessionaires the right to explore and exploit them, disregarding the wishes of landowners. By tracing the course of the water from its source in the glaciers of the private Andino Juncal park in Chile using drones and sequential cameras, Ignacio Acosta (Chile, 1976) unveils the threats facing this ecosystem, such as illegal mining activities and illegal hunting. His video work interweaves his own images with those captured by environmental activists using their mobile phones.
