Giesse (Summer)

2017

Vertical views of Earth as forensic evidence of clear-cutting, a widespread practice in Nordic countries where all trees in a given area are felled. These photographs were taken in Gállok, at the site where Beowulf Mining Plc extracted iron ore samples and where large manifestations took place in 2013. While some images focus on the remains of the Boreal forests after being cut down, others depict traces of the naturally occurring iron-oxidizing bacteria that feed on iron-rich water systems.
