Drones y Tambores, Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende, Santiago, Chile

The exhibition Litte ja Goabddá delves into the use of drones by the Sámi indigenous communities as a means of resistance and protest against the Gállok mining project in Norrbotten County, Sweden. The Sámi are an indigenous minority living in Sápmi, a territory that has been colonized at different by Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Russia. The systematic division, expropriation, and industrialization of Sápmi, coupled with violent repression from the colonizers, have resulted in cultural fragmentation and the loss of original rights to their ancestral lands.
The artistic project, developed collaboratively with this indigenous community, highlights the significance of the land and conveys the anxiety felt in the region regarding the potential inability of activists to prevent the opening of a mine. Consequently, photography and video become tools to explore geopolitical power dynamics based on minerals and historical narratives.
